UB NOW: Industrial Engineers Make A Difference

Industrial engineers talk about the jobs they do, the satisfaction they experience and the impact they make in people’s lives. IEs are people who like to solve problems – and find the quickest, fastest and best way to do something. They apply their knowledge and skills to improve systems – of people, machines, materials or energy. IEs are employed in diverse industries such as defense, healthcare, consumer products, entertainment, aviation and food manufacturing. There’s a great demand for IE professionals in the US and internationally, with starting salaries between $55000 and $65000. This video was sponsored by the Council of Industrial Engineering Academic Department Heads. (CIEADH)

    2 things I didn’t know:
    1) I didn’t know that Industrial engineers worked in many areas, not just at big manufacturing plants.
    2) I didn’t know that the starting salary is about 65k a year.

    Two questions:
    1) Do IEs work with machinery?
    2) What is a typical day for an IE?
