I have a crane humidifier and I dont know how to clean it?

My crane humidifier (the cute ones that look like different animals) was left with water in it when we went out f town. I came back to find brown water and little specks of mold. I threw away the directions and was wanting to know how to clean the humidifier effectively.

There is humidifier cleaner that you pour into it.
    Time to go shopping

I soak it in bleach and hot water for at least 15 minutes.
Try to get in there and wipe it down with a paper towel.

I wish they’d make humidifier where the entire bottom comes out for cleaning ! Why do they make only one tiny hole to clean it with ?
    Good luck.

I have three humidifiers right now, and had two others of different brands. As long as we’re talking a hot steam humidifier, all you need to do is soak any parts that come in contact with water in vinegar for awhile. This loosens the mineral deposits. Rinse with hot water. You may need to scrub with some sort of brush afterwards. The dark specks you saw were likely the mineral deposits. You will need to clean your humidifier like this periodically. If you use it every night, then plan to do this every five days or so. Just rinse in between.
