How can I use a 2nd battery in my trunk to power my amp and subs?

I want to power my amp without running a power wire through the cabin. Is it possible to just throw a second batteryand ground it to the chassis?

Your alternator still has to power that second battery

no, it has to have some connection to the alternator or the battery will just drain.it would be better to just run an additional pos and neg from your battery under the hood to your trunk or if you have an older car with a lot of extra room under the hood you can just rig another battery under the hood. ussually dont have the room but its nice when you do

you still need to run the wire to charge the battery or you are pulling that out of the trunk every night ?
